Echinocactus Giant Barrel Cactus Seeds

Inc. GST + FREE Shipping

Echinocactus Giant Barrel Cactus is native to central Mexico and is the largest of the barrel cacti, with some of the very mature specimens (more than a hundred years old) reaching more than 150cm across. Fortunately, this is a relative slow growing species, which for the most part, will result in substantially smaller plants in the garden, typically reaching the size of a soccer ball in around 5 or so years, and requiring 20+ years to reach the size of a beachball. If you are after a larger plant, best not to wait and get the seeds in now! Or perhaps visit a local nursery. Echinocactus Giant Barrel Cactus does well in pots, rockeries and a wide range of gardens, and like all cacti is very drought tolerant, making it a favourite for pots or garden beds where established plants are expected to survive with very little water or attention. The bold and beautiful shape and texture make this variety a great addition to any garden, and can be used quite effectively in making a statement as a specimen plant. The Giant Barrel Cactus is a variety of Echinocactus platyacanthus.
