Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura Seeds

Inc. GST + FREE Shipping

Other than the beautiful love-heart shaped leaves that cover Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura from Spring through to Autumn, there is much to love about this rare deciduous tree, particularly its mesmerising Autumn colour. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura trees are native to Japan and China, with the species considered endangered in the latter. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura is also often affectionately referred to as the Caramel tree, as the plant is known to fill its surrounds with a delightful aroma resembling a mild caramel, during the cold Autumn evenings. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura provides a stunning display of colour for all seasons. Whilst the plant is deciduous in winter, it quickly follows with a stunning display of bronze tinged green foliage in Spring and Summer followed by the spectacular display or yellow, bronze, orange and burgundy colour in the Autumn. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura is also known for its ornate bark, providing character and charm to many more established gardens. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura is commonly grown in a wide range of soil types ranging from sandy loams through to heavier clays, with established plants able to tolerate a wide variety of soils. Cercidiphyllum Japonicum Katsura is also suitable as a bonsai, provided the seeds are germinated in either Jiffy pellets for a shallow compact root system, or in a low-organic matter soil to ensure the plants are not very vigorous. If the young plants are not being started in Jiffy pellets, the tap-root should either be snipped or curled (J-rooted) within the first 8 - 12 weeks of germination, to ensure the plant remains optimally suited for bonsai.

Clear sowing instructions on the packet, seeds arrived in perfect condition, inside a ziplock bag in the packet. I ordered 100 and I got many more so that was a great bonus.
